The Cost Dashboard helps you track spending, set budgets, and identify opportunities to optimize costs across your AI operations.

Accessing the Cost Dashboard

1. Go to Analytics > Costs
2. View spending summaries and breakdowns
3. Set budgets and alerts

Cost Overview

Summary Metrics

Cost Breakdown

View costs by:

• Model: Which models cost most
• API Key: Spending per key
• Time Period: Daily/weekly trends

Model Cost Comparison

The dashboard lists each model you used this period alongside its rate and what you spent on it, so you can see where the money went rather than only the total.

Rates vary widely between models — a frontier model can cost far more than a small one for the same conversation. Current rates are shown in the Model Hub.

Budget Management

Setting Budgets

1. Go to Settings > Billing
2. Click Set Budget
3. Enter monthly budget amount
4. Configure alerts

Budget Alerts

Set alerts at:

• 50% of budget
• 75% of budget
• 90% of budget
• 100% of budget (hard stop optional)

Using Alvin for Savings

Alvin's intelligent routing automatically optimizes costs:

• Routes simple queries to cheaper models
• Reserves expensive models for complex tasks
• Typically saves 30-50% vs always using premium models

Manual Optimization

Model selection

The largest single factor in your bill is which model answers each request. Pinning a frontier model for everything is the most common cause of an unexpectedly large invoice.

Leaving Alvin routing on is the simplest control: small prompts land on small models, and the expensive ones are used where they're needed. If you do select manually, the Model Hub shows each model's rate next to it.
